the “Avalon” series consists of 3 sculptural vases, made of White Arabescato Marble and mixed colored marble. How soft can stone be? The idea was to create vases with a strong aesthetic impact, researching the use of marble in ancient Roman churches as well as the purity of the textiles and anatomical shapes in classical sculptures. Far from the usual contemporary approach of perfection and clean geometry, the “Avalon” vases present curved and complex shapes. Their formal ambiguity requires the dexterity of a sculptor in order to obtain where the veining and chromatic variations, typical of the stone used, softens and expands.
